While martial arts might seem like a male-dominated sport, the number of female participants is growing. Martial arts is for everyone, and all ages and experiences benefit from everything that martial arts has to offer.
Your sons and daughters will get a lot out of participating in martial arts. We encourage everyone to give martial arts a try. But we also want to highlight a few of the reasons why more and more girls are getting involved in Jiu-Jitsu.
Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art where even the smallest white belt can overtake an attacker. Rather than learning movements that look cool and aren’t necessarily helpful in real life, Jiu-Jitsu focuses on practical applications. A good instructor will work with students to form a strong foundation of skills while encouraging lots of practice, hard work, and always having a willingness to learn.
Kids can struggle with developing confidence in themselves. But Jiu-Jitsu can help build this confidence. At first, it can be challenging to apply a technique or skill, but through consistent practice, students become proficient. With continued improvement, confidence grows
3. Physical Health and Fitness
Jiu-Jitsu is great for increasing physical health and fitness. It’s a well-rounded activity that develops multiple elements of fitness, including endurance and strength. Kids build balance, coordination, and agility as well.
4. New Friendships
Jiu-Jitsu classes help kids meet and form new friendships with other kids from a variety of ages and backgrounds. While learning martial arts with their friends, kids practice valuable social skills that they can use outside of Jiu-Jitsu.
5. A Fun Activity
Both kids and adults need to have things in life that are fun, and you look forward to doing every week. With so many options for kids’ activities, you never know what your child might be drawn to.
