Getting Started & Your First Class
You will be introduced to basic movements, simple positions, and beginner-friendly self-defense concepts at a comfortable pace. After a light warm-up, one of our instructors will guide you step by step so you can learn safely and feel confident on the mat.
No experience is needed, and you will not be expected to spar during your first class. The goal is simply to help you or your child get moving, learn something useful, and have a great first experience.
Yes. Your first class is complimentary, with no pressure and no obligation. You can sign up online or contact us directly to schedule your visit.
We recommend arriving 10 to 15 minutes before your scheduled class time. This allows us to welcome you, show you around the academy, introduce you to the instructor, and make sure you are comfortable before class begins.
Please bring comfortable athletic clothing and a water bottle.
For your first class, we recommend wearing shorts, leggings, athletic pants, and a T-shirt. When you arrive, our team will fit you with a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu uniform, called a gi, which you can wear over your clothes during class.
We will take care of everything else and make sure you or your child feels comfortable before stepping on the mat.
For the first class, comfortable athletic clothing is perfect. Shorts, leggings, athletic pants, and a T-shirt all work well.
We recommend avoiding clothing with zippers, buttons, or anything that could scratch another student. When you arrive, we will fit you with a gi to wear over your clothes during class.
Once enrolled, students will need their own Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu uniform. Our team will help you with the proper size and fit.
That is exactly why many families choose Jiu-Jitsu.
Our program is designed to help children build confidence, coordination, focus, and resilience at their own pace. Some kids jump right in, while others need a little time to feel comfortable. Both are completely normal.
Our instructors are experienced in helping children feel comfortable, included, and successful on the mat. Every child develops at their own pace, and our goal is to meet them where they are, build trust, and help them grow with confidence.

Programs, Style & Curriculum
We offer classes for students as young as 3 years old through adults. Our classes are divided by age and experience level so each student can learn in the right environment.
Our youth programs are designed to support each stage of development, while our adult programs provide a clear path for beginners, intermediate students, and advanced practitioners.
We specialize in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a practical martial art focused on self-defense, leverage, control, discipline, confidence, and physical fitness. It teaches students how to defend themselves using technique rather than relying only on size, strength, or athletic ability.
Yes. We use a structured, step-by-step curriculum that helps students progress safely from their first class through advanced training.
Our curriculum is organized by age, experience level, and skill development. Students learn self-defense, positional control, escapes, submissions, takedowns, and the principles needed to grow technically and personally.
Promotions are based on skill development, time in rank, and attendance.
Students are evaluated continuously by our instructors during class. Our goal is to make sure each student is progressing safely, understands the techniques appropriate for their level, and has completed the necessary training time before moving to the next stripe or belt.
There is no mystery and no politics. Our coaches provide guidance on what each student needs to improve and help them understand the path forward.
There are no belt promotion fees at Rolles Gracie Academy.
Promotions are earned through skill development, time in rank, attendance, and consistent training. Our goal is to make sure every student is truly prepared, confident, and well-rounded before moving to the next level.

Safety, Location & Special Programs
Our academy is located at 2333 County Rd 516, Old Bridge, NJ 08857.
Safety is one of our highest priorities.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a contact martial art, so bumps and minor accidents can happen. However, our classes are structured, supervised, and taught with safety in mind. We enforce academy rules, teach proper control, and correct unsafe behavior immediately.
Every student is expected to train with respect, control, and awareness, regardless of age or experience level.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu does not require the same type of sparring gear used in some striking martial arts.
Students may need a uniform, rash guard, mouthguard, or other training items depending on their program and level. Our team will let you know exactly what is needed and when.
